VALLIANT, Okla. (AP) _ A Valliant man is dead after the pickup truck he was driving was hit broadside by a tractor-trailer rig in McCurtain County.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 81-year-old Jessie Stuart was killed just before 7:30 Thursday night in the crash at the intersection of State Highway 98 and US Highway 70 east of Valliant.

Troopers say Stuart was northbound on Highway 98 when he ran a stop sign and was hit by the westbound semi.

The driver of the rig was treated and released at an Idabel hospital.
