Two people killed in single-vehicle crash near Afton

AFTON, Okla. (AP) _ An 8 year-old girl was one of two people killed when the van they were riding in overturned and rolled down an embankment along the Will Rogers Turnpike in far northeast Oklahoma.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 8 year-old Gissella Lara of Mexico was pronounced dead at the scene of Saturday's crash. The other victim wasn't immediately identified. Five other people were injured in the crash.

The patrol says the van was traveling eastbound about 6:15 Saturday night when its left rear tire blew out and the driver lost control and ran off the roadway. The van rolled down an embankment and rolled.
