Tulsa begins preparing for BYU

TULSA, Okla. (AP) _ Will Tulsa's winning ways mean a victory over BYU?

The Golden Hurricane opened its season last week with a 45-to-7 win over Stephen F. Austin. On Saturday, TU will travel to BYU, which lost at Arizona Saturday on a last-second field goal.

Tulsa is 0-and-5 against BYU. But the teams haven't played each other since 1997, when the Cougars won 49-to-39 in Provo, Utah.

Tulsa coach Steve Kragthorpe says BYU's style of play reminds him of Fresno State. That's the team TU defeated 31-to-24 in last year's Liberty Bowl.

Kragthorpe says BYU's running game is patterned after Texas Tech's schemes.
