OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- An Oklahoma City cardiologist is awarded $10.3-million Tuesday by a federal judge because the patents for an angioplasty catheter he invented have been allegedly infringed upon.
US District Judge Tim Leonard awarded the damages and attorneys fees to Doctor Jan K. Voda.
Voda, a native of Czechoslovakia, sued Florida-based Cordis Corp. in October 2003. A division of Johnson-and-Johnson, Cordis is a medical device company that specializes in vascular disease management.
A federal jury decided in May that Cordis infringed upon three patents held by Voda.
