OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A 20-year-old man faces two animal cruelty complaints after witnesses claim he repeatedly stabbed a puppy and threw it in a trash bin.
Police Sergeant Gary Knight says Dallas Lee Fields was arrested Tuesday night at a northwest Oklahoma City apartment complex. Fields was taken to the Oklahoma County jail early yesterday.
Knight says witnesses told police a man had a litter of puppies and was giving them away to neighbors.
According to witnesses the man gave away all but one puppy, then stabbed it in front of two teenagers and threw it into the trash bin. Noticing the puppy was not dead, the man pulled it from the bin and stabbed it again.
A teenager who adopted one of the puppies told police he saw Fields stab the dog and felt ill afterward.
