Giuliani, Norick To Discuss Response To Terrorism

Updated:
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani will join former Oklahoma City Mayor Ron Norick for a one-hour discussion of their cities' response to terrorism in a program for the 12th anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing. Oklahoma City National Memorial Foundation Chairman Burns Hargis is to moderate Thursday's discussion, in which the two mayors will discuss leadership and dealing with large-scale disasters.

Norick was mayor of Oklahoma City when 168 people were killed in the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building on April 19th, 1995. Giuliani was the mayor of New York at the time of the September 11th terrorist attacks. He is now a Republican contender for president.

The two are also to speak at a remembrance ceremony that morning.

Other plans for the 12th anniversary include presentation of an award honoring an organization that teaches young people about tolerance and peace, and a symposium on civil liberties during the war on terrorism.
