Teachers testify as a popular principal fights for his job. Hilldale's Dewayne Pemberton was in district court on Friday, defending a restraining order that put him back on the job.
Pemberton was fired three weeks ago for unprofessional conduct. Two teachers told the judge Pemberton is an honest man who was only looking out for students' safety when he sided with the school's softball coach who didn't feel safe driving her team's bus.
More teachers will testify when the court reconvenes.
"I think a victory is any time I can be back with my faculty and my kids for one more day, and that's what happened,†said Hilldale High School Principal Dewayne Pemberton. “For at least the next 15 to 30 days til we reconvene and I think that's a big victory for me and for the school district."
Pemberton says it's more important than ever that he's in the building, as the students try to focus on end of the year tests.
