NORMAN, Okla. (AP) -- The number 23 worn by former Oklahoma All-American Wayman Tisdale will again be seen on the basketball court at OU.

Freshman Blake Griffin asked for and received permission to wear the number worn by the Sooner great.

Tisdale's jersey -- but not the number -- was retired in 1997.

Coach Jeff Capel says he spoke with Tisdale before agreeing to give Griffin the number and Griffin also talked with Tisdale before getting 23.
