CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- Authorities say the body found in a shallow grave near an Interstate in South Carolina is likely that of a missing law enforcement officer.

But the medical examiner says a positive identification has not been made.

Constable Robert Lee Bailey was last seen last Monday making a traffic stop in Lincolnville, 50 miles from where the grave was found.

Charleston County coroner Rae Wooten says the body that was found has decomposed to the point where a visual identification is not possible. She says there's evidence that it was not a natural death. An autopsy is planned for tomorrow.

Five people are in custody in connection with Bailey's disappearance.
