Indiana Fugitive Caught In Oklahoma

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Sheriff's deputies arrested a man Tuesday on an accusation that he killed a man in Indiana 12 years ago.

Theodore Howard Hemmons III, 38, was arrested on a first-degree murder complaint in the 1995 shooting death of James McMullen, 53, said Mark Myers, a spokesman for the Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office. McMullen's body was found in his home in Terre Haute.

``According to Terre Haute investigators, several suspects were developed over the years, but just recently an eyewitness stepped forward giving investigators the crucial details they needed to make an arrest in the cold case,'' Myers said.

Hemmons has family in the Oklahoma City area and had been living here for some time, Myers said.

Hemmons was being held at the Oklahoma County Jail and was being interviewed by investigators from Indiana.
