Brent Kitchen, the Director of Tulsa International Airport resigned Friday.

Kitchen came under fire for bad management of airport business. He was under investigation for creating a complicated land transaction that the federal government believes was used to subsidize the now bankrupt "Great Plains Airlines".

Friday, Tulsa mayor Bill LaFortune said the city had plenty of reason to fire Kitchen. Kitchen was suspended by the mayor back in June.

By resigning, Kitchen avoids a termination hearing with the city.
