The city of Tulsa has awarded a $1-million grant to a group planning to build apartments in one of downtown's historic skyscrapers.

The Tulsa Development Authority awarded the grant to help encourage residential construction inside the Philtower building at 427 South Boston. Developers plan a $3-million project to build 30 loft apartments on floors 12 through 20.

The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
