State dinosaur one step closer to recognition

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Oklahoma would have an official state dinosaur under a resolution heading to the state Senate.

The official dinosaur would be the 'Acrocanthosaurus atokensis" under the resolution sponsored by Senator Jeff Rabon of Hugo.

The resolution says the remains of the dinosaur were found in Atoka County in southeastern Oklahoma and that the most complete dinosaur fossil was found in McCurtain County in the 1980s.
