Lincoln Mercury is introducing 11 new models in the next four years, one of them; the Lincoln Mark LT was in town Thursday for a preview.

News on 6 reporter Rick Wells took the new Mark LT for a spin around downtown.

What you're looking at is something really new for Lincoln a true luxury pickup, but it's a Lincoln and a pick-up, why? Tom Bloomfield with Lincoln Mercury Jaguar of Tulsa: "The market for a pick-up truck a luxury pickup truck has just exploded like it has in SUV's, so Lincoln decided it really should be in this marketplace."

Cadillac's making a pickup, Lincoln needs to compete. It's for people who need a work horse pick-up, but can afford the luxury inside. It's got a big roomy leather interior with real wood trim on the doors and dash. Bloomfield: "Six disk CD changer, dual zone climate control." Yeah, and a bunch of automatic stuff, everything you'd expect in a luxury vehicle.

The marketing folks at Lincoln developed a mythical target buyer for this new luxury truck, a guy named "Dave." Tom Bloomfield: "Dave's just a guy who's a pickup truck driver, who's been very successful in his business." He wants and needs a pickup, but wants the nicest one he can get. The Lincoln folks think this is it.

Tom Bloomfield said it's comfortable and quiet to drive, so I asked if I could take it for a spin. He said sure. He's right, it's a very comfortable pick-up, gets pickup truck kind of mileage, about 15 miles per gallon. And the cost? In the low to mid 40.

The new Lincoln Mark LT will be featured at next week’s Tulsa International Auto Show at Expo Square.
