A crackdown on music pirating has landed two dozen Oklahomans in federal court. Since September 2003, the music industry has sued more than 8,500 people.

In Oklahoma, eight cases ended with more than $34,000 paid to record companies. Defendants are usually sued by multiple recording companies.

Those companies show the court images of computer screens with songs a person has downloaded, which can number into the thousands. Record companies are also using 24-hour surveillance to catch people.
