American, Pilots' Union Deadlocked Over Reno Air Deal

Updated:
(Fort Worth-AP) -- American Airlines and its pilots' union
reportedly are deadlocked over how to merge Reno Air into the
carrier's operations.

That's with less than two weeks left before a company deadline
to complete the process, a published report says.

Unidentified sources from both sides tell the Fort Worth
Star-Telegram that no deal has been reached despite two days of
meetings.

Executives of the Fort Worth-based airline have said that they
will proceed with the merger on August 31st, deal or no deal.

The Allied Pilots Association's 18-member board is scheduled to
meet today. But the newspaper's sources say the board will only be
briefed on the negotiations.

American's parent company bought Reno Air in December. But a
dispute over how American should absorb the low-fare carrier's
lower-paid pilots led to a pilots' sickout earlier this year.
