DHS won't urge giving centers to private industry

There's good news for employees at centers
for the developmentally disabled in Pauls Valley in Enid.

The head of the Department of Human Services says he won't recommend that operations of the two centers be turned over to
private industry.

Instead, D-H-S director Howard Hendrick says a task force will be named to find ways to improve the quality and efficiency of services at the two state facilities.

The task force will be made up of parents, employees and management.

Hendrick says he's still considering outsourcing the services at an Enid center that cares for dually diagnosed patients.

He's expected to make his recommendations to the Human Services Commission later this month
