ST. LOUIS (AP) — Singer Sheryl Crow will headline a tribute concert in honor of the late Missouri Gov. Mel Carnahan.

Crow, who is a native of Kennett in southeast Missouri, had earlier appeared at fund-raisers for Carnahan's U.S. Senate campaign against Republican incumbent John Ashcroft.

Her father, attorney Wendell Crow, went to law school with Carnahan at the University of Missouri at Columbia.

Carnahan died Oct. 16 in a plane crash that also took the lives of his son, Roger ``Randy'' Carnahan and chief campaign adviser Chris Sifford.

Crow plans on inviting other artists to the $25 show set for Friday evening at the Pageant club in University City just outside of downtown St. Louis.

Proceeds from the show will benefit the Missouri Childrens Trust Fund.
