Child abuse charges against Grove councilor and her son are dropped

(Jay-AP) -- Felony charges of child abuse against a Grove city councilor and her son are being dismissed.

Carol Nuckolls and Terry Hendren were charged in Delaware County after a Grove detective investigated allegations made by Hendren's 15-year-old daughter.

Prosecutor Terrell Crosson says the charges were dropped yesterday in the best interest of the child and in an effort to keept the family together.

An affidavit says Hendren alegedly hit his daughter in the face and choked her while at Independent Baptist Church. Nuckolls was accused of grabbing the girl by her hair and scratching her face.

Crosson says Hendren received a six-month deferred prosecution agreement for misdemeanor assault and battery.
