Hill Leads American Music Awards

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) — Country sweetheart Faith Hill received four American Music Award nominations Monday, leading a pack of artists vying for awards chosen by fans.

Marc Anthony and the rock band Creed received three nominations, while Toni Braxton, Destiny's Child, Celine Dion, Eminem, Alan Jackson, 'N Sync, Sisqo and Britney Spears got two each.

The nominees are chosen by music industry data, but the winners are selected by a national sampling of approximately 20,000 listeners. The awards will be presented Jan. 8 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles in a three-hour show broadcast by ABC.

Spears will be the host of the 28th annual show.

The nominees:


MALE ARTIST: Marc Anthony, Eminem, Kid Rock.

FEMALE ARTIST: Christina Aguilera, Celine Dion, Faith Hill, Britney Spears.

BAND, DUO OR GROUP: Backstreet Boys, Creed, 'N Sync.

MALE ARTIST: D'Angelo, Brian McKnight, Sisqo.

FEMALE ARTIST: Toni Braxton, Whitney Houston, Kelly Price.

BAND, DUO OR GROUP: Destiny's Child, Jagged Edge, Lucy Pearl.
