Anyone within earshot of the accident rushed to the scene Sunday to do what they could to help.
Greg Shepherd was the very first diver to go into the Arkansas River and see the destruction. He talked about the images he was faced with. "All I knew was there was a barge that hit the bridge and it was the I-40 bridge and it had collapsed. There was alot of rebarb, alot of shrapnel, alot of sharp metal from the vehicles being torn up from the drop. The water conditions were, not the best conditions."
There were three other divers with Shepherd. They found four of the first vehicles that were recovered.
