Attorneys discuss the cost of prosecuting, money available

(Oklahoma City-AP) -- District attorneys throughout Oklahoma gathered in Del City to discuss the rising cost of prosecuting people and the dwindling money avaliable to do so.

The state's 27 prosecution districts are sharing 26-point-eight (m) million dollars in state appropriations this year.

District attorneys have other sources of money, including bogus-check funds and prosecution fees.

Each district receives a set amount of money each year from the state.

The council will reconvene July 29th to further debate changes before its budget proposal is submitted to the state in September.
