Richard Armitage Says He Was Foolish

WASHINGTON (AP) -- A former top Bush administration official admits he was "foolish" for revealing a CIA operative's identity.

Former Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage made the admission on Sunday, four years after the controversy erupted over the leak of Valerie Plame's identity. It comes a year after Armitage publicly apologized to Plame and her husband over the matter.

The former Number Two State Department official was agreeing with comments made by Plame, who said he should have known better. Armitage also says that there was no ill intent on his part.

Plame sued Armitage, Vice President Cheney, Cheney's ex-chief of staff Lewis Libby and White House political adviser Karl Rove for allegedly violating her rights. But a federal judge dismissed the case, saying it had no legal basis.
