A mother who lost her baby after a hit and run accident pleads for the driver to turn himself in. Tulsan, 22-year-old Amber Renfro, was six months pregnant when she was hit while standing on the side of the road Saturday afternoon. The News On 6's Chris Wright reports Amber has lost two children in the past year. And, she admits she's not sure how she will overcome this second tragedy.

Two days after being hit by an SUV, Amber Renfro is barely able to move. She has a broken wrist, shoulder blade, pelvis, and two fractured vertebrae. But, it's not her injuries that are causing her pain.

"You never think that at 22 years old that I would have already lost two children. It's just numbing for me," said Amber Renfro.

Amber's first child, Samantha, passed away last May after succumbing to a lung condition. Her second child did not have a chance. Amber, six months pregnant, was hit Saturday while she waited to catch a bus near Mingo and Admiral.

Witnesses say a late 80's model Jeep Cherokee struck her, sending her 10 feet in the air, and into a nearby ditch. Authorities have recovered a vehicle matching the description of the Jeep involved in the hit and run accident. Authorities were called to Rogers County late Monday night. The Jeep had a broken steering column and may have been stolen. Detectives have impounded the vehicle and are investigating.

Tulsa Police have yet to find the driver.

"I just hope they can be human enough to step up to the plate and say, ‘hey I did this and I'm sorry,'" said Amber Renfro.

Doctors performed an emergency C-section, but say the baby boy, Jace Wittman, suffered severe brain damage. He passed away Sunday evening. All Amber has to remember him by are his footprint and fingerprints.

"They brought him to me after they were done trying to save his life. And so, the only time I ever saw my son, he was already gone," said Amber Renfro.

And now, Amber must somehow cope with a tragedy no mother wants to endure once, let alone twice.

"They were just beautiful children, and I don't understand why this happened," said Amber Renfro.

Amber says doctors told her that once she makes a full recovery, there is the possibility that she could become pregnant again. But, she says she's not sure if or when she would be ready for that again.
