An entire Tulsa school will spend the rest of the school year getting healthy.  They're trying out a new program.  News On 6 anchor Jennifer Loren reports it's called "Perfect Weight America" and all 996 Metro Christian Academy students and their families are jumping on board.

Perri Blake and her two kids are about to embark on a nutritional experiment.

"I'm looking forward to losing a little bit of weight. I think too, plus maintaining a healthier lifestyle. I eat, do a pretty good job eating fruits and vegetables. But not as many I think as I'm going to need to," said Blake.

The challenge was conceived by the New York Times Best Selling author Jordan Rubin.

"We like to show that nutrition, lifestyle and wellness can improve everything from students' behavior to their grades and of course their overall health," said Rubin.

Rubin says good nutrition starts at home, that's why his program adopts the entire family not just the kids.

"You know the other school programs have tried to get lunches healthier. But that's five meals a week. We're interested in impacting the other 16 meals a week," said Rubin.

His slogan? Change your diet, change your life, change your world.

If Metro's 16-week experiment is successful, he hopes his program will change the world.

"And really show the world, the medical community, that this is something that will work and can be replicated," said Rubin.  "Because change and winning the battle of the bulge begins between the ears and not around the waist."

The 16 week program officially kicks off February 25th with final weigh-ins and health assessments in June.
