Winter storms do not help Tulsa's worst streets.  The weather is only making the city's pothole predicament bigger.  Tulsa Mayor Kathy Taylor admits the problem is citywide with failing roads in each district.

A News On 6 viewer wrote in, complaining about the area near 51st and Harvard. So the News On 6 checked it out.  There we found NYC Pizza.  Owner Kenneth Lehman has lived in Tulsa now for more than 20 years and he doesn't think the streets in Tulsa are that bad.

Lehman says the city grew too quickly, building housing additions before the streets, instead of the other way around.  And Lehman is against a tax hike to pay for the problem.

"I think maybe some of the people in government if they allocated the money more properly, we might not have to be taxed," said Kenneth Lehman.

"We do have to pay for improvements.  There's no such thing as a free lunch, so we have to make up for some past issues with the streets," said Tulsa Mayor Kathy Taylor.

Taylor agrees something needs to be done quickly, and she has been meeting with the Tulsa city council on the issue.

The city says it is working on a proposal to present to the public next month to improve our streets.
