An experimental helicopter went down near the Westport Airport just west of Sand Springs around 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol Troopers tell The News On 6 that a student and an instructor were piloting the aircraft. Both were able to get out of the wreckage alive with no injuries.
The helicopter is severely damaged.
The instructor of the aircraft says they were practicing emergency landings and had an electrical failure.
"We had a low voltage situation and had to land the helicopter along the highway and Arrowhead Road," said Zane Morris who survived the crash.
When the two landed the helicopter rolled over and chopped off the tail.
