A World War II B-17 Bomber took flight over Tulsa on Monday. The Liberty Belle is one of only 14 B-17's that's still flying. NewsOn6.com's Margaret Stokes took a ride in the historic aircraft .

For Stokes, riding in the Liberty Bell was a privilege, but for the veterans who joined her, it was a step back in time.

This particular B-17 was built toward the end of the war and never saw any combat. It's painted to match the colors and nose art of the original Liberty Belle that flew countless missions with the 390th Bomb Group of the 8th Air Force.

With several combat crew positions throughout the plane, the view is unbelievable. Green Country native and World War II Veteran Jerry Gentis said every time he gets the chance to see a B-17, it brings him right back to his days in uniform almost 64 years ago.

"You fly as many times as I have in one of these aircrafts and it's brought you back 30 times. You feel attached to the B-17 naturally," said Jerry Gentis, WWII Veteran.

Flights for the public will be available on May 3 and 4. For more information call 918-340-0243 or visit the Liberty Foundation.
