Some Grove residents are saying no to a $60 million proposed casino. The Seneca-Cayuga Tribe is asking that 33 acres within city limits be put into a federal trust so the tribe can move forward with construction.

A group of concerned citizens are calling on a national organization to help stop the deal from happening.

The Equal Rights Alliance talked strategy with concerned residents on Saturday. The group says since gambling is legal the moral argument won't work. Instead, the group is researching how casinos affect local governments and the economy.

"It doesn't make any sense to have one inside city limits cause once that land goes into trust its literally like putting a foreign country, a foreign government right into your city limits you can never control that even if you have an inter-governmental agreement there no way to compel enforcement," said Darrell Mastin.

Residents say there are nearly 30 casinos within 75 miles of Grove and there's no need for another.
