Shots rang out at a downtown Tulsa nightclub early Sunday morning, sending one man to the hospital in serious condition. It happened at Club Pure around 2 a.m.

The News On 6's Jeffrey Smith reports several shootings have happened at that building over the past year. Now a city councilman says he'll try to get the place shut down for good.

Three club names, three shootings, all coming from one building in downtown Tulsa. All three shootings have happened in the last year and a half. Now city leaders say, enough is enough.

"It's a new name, new owners, but kinda the same problems," said TPD Captain Shawn King.

Tulsa police know the history of the spot on 2nd and Greenwood.

"I intend to work with city legal, the other councilors, to do a comprehensive overhaul of the ordinances so that this thing doesn't happen again," said Eric Gomez.

City Councilman Gomez knows it too. Before it became Club Pure two months ago, it was Club UV. That's when a 21-year-old man was shot and killed inside the building seven months ago.

Before that it was The Ministry. That's when an 18-year-old was shot in the face and a 15-year-old was shot in the neck. That happened 15 months ago.

Now it's Club Pure and Sunday morning the owner was shot in the back after breaking up a fight.

Gomez wants the place shut down.

"We do have nuisance laws, and I am going to be discussing with them to see that if we do declare this a public nuisance, cause clearly it is, what our avenues will be in that regard," said Gomez.

"We're about appropriate operations, reasonable security, inclusiveness, and prosperity," said Blue Dome Developer Michael Sager.

Sager says places liked Club Pure are giving the area a black eye.

"We're not about loopholes and how we can make the quick buck and then cut and run as an operator, or simply rename it over and over again," said Sager.

"This, this particular club, this particular establishment, propagates the perception that it's not safe, when it reality it's the complete opposite, it's one of the safest parts of town," said Gomez.

And to keep it that way he'll be fighting hard to keep these doors closed for good.

Tulsa police say they're still looking for the shooter. They say the suspect drove off in a blue SUV with 24 inch rims. If you have any information on the shooting, call Crimestoppers at 596 COPS.
