Photographer Helping Families Grieve

A local photographer who helps families grieve the loss of a baby is teaching other photographers to do the same. Loy Payne is one of many photographers who take pictures of stillborns. He says it gives families something to hold on to as they leave the hospital.

Payne works with "Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep", a national organization that provides free photos for families.

Sunday marks the very first workshop that trains photographers in the delicate art.

"Many of the parents have said with these photographs and DVD that they take with them, they can go on with their life and with the photographs and being able to watch the DVD it's a healing thing. It's a gift that we give from the heart, it's totally volunteer," said Payne.

It was only three years ago that stillborn photography began and now it's grown into a worldwide phenomenon.
