It seems the hot acts at D-Fest will match the hot Oklahoma weather. The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning for the weekend.

NewsOn6.com anchor Margaret Stokes reports with temperatures expected to be in the triple digits, and more than 60,000 people expected to attend, D-Fest organizers have worked to make the event more comfortable for its guests.

"We know it's going to be hot this weekend. We have misting zones on the festival grounds. We have Gatorade, we have water," said Jen Clark, with REX Public Relations. "Also the great thing about our event, gates don't open until 4:00. Bands start at 6:00 and as you can tell right now there is a breeze downtown. We hope that continues. And as the sun sets it's going to be a perfect night."

Out of the eleven stages, nine of them are indoors, giving guests ample opportunities to enjoy live music in the comfort of air conditioning. EMSA warns festival goers to watch their alcohol intake which increases de-hydration. Three EMSA units will be on hand during the entire weekend.

EMSA says taking simple precautions in this kind of heat can make the difference between a good time, and trip to the hospital.

"Eat a light meal, drink lots of water. You probably should be drinking a bottle of water every thirty to forty five minutes. If you feel like you're getting too hot get in the shade and keep cool," said Jason Likens, EMSA Health & Safety Manager.

Those setting up for the event sweat it out, literally. So, they were sure to keep their water jugs filled.

"We check them regularly if they get about half way empty we refill them," said Brian Lloid, who works with the production crew.

Doors opened at 4:00 on Friday. The festivities continue until 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
For everyone under eighteen, Tulsa police say they will be enforcing the city's midnight curfew. Curfew violations carry fines up to $200.
