BROKEN ARROW, OK - Saturday marks one year since a man kidnapped a five-year-old girl from her front yard, sexually assaulted her and dumped her eight miles away.  That rapist has never been caught and that family is still healing from their wounds.

The little girl is now in the first grade and taking tae kwon do.  Her family is all about making good memories.  But, she still has days and terrible nights filled with images of the bad man and what he did to her.

The man put the girl out of his car and tossed her clothes and shoes out the window after the attack in the area of 51st Street South and 257th East Avenue.  She walked, naked, bleeding and crying to the nearest house for help.

She recently brought her mother and grandmother to that location and talked about that day.  They told her how brave and strong she was to walk on gravel with bare feet, how smart she was to knock on a door, all while their hearts were breaking all over again.

"I can remember what I was wearing, what she was wearing, everything from that day.  I can remember everything, the look on her face when I got to her and she was having the rape kit. I don't think some of that will ever go away," said the girl's mother.

The whole family was hurt and the whole family is healing.  They are closer than ever and take time to appreciate the little things others might take for granted.  But, they are haunted that her rapist is still out there.

"In therapy, she's writing her story, that's one of her therapies and she's pretty much done with it.  But, the ending and we'd love for the ending to be the bad man has been arrested," said the girl's mother.

The girl helped police create a sketch of her attacker.  Tips have poured in, but nothing solid.

When Brandon Brixey was arrested for carjacking a van with children inside and molesting a girl in the van, many people felt he was the one.

Broken Arrow Police say they are waiting on DNA tests before saying yes or no.

"Somebody has to know something. A lot of people called in tips, but there's one person out there who knows and I wish that one person would call," said the girl's mother.

The reward fund in the case is at more than $150,000.  Anyone with information is urged to call the Broken Arrow Police Department at 259-1111.

The family still worries they could walk into a store or restaurant one day and come face to face with the attacker.

They have rehearsed over and over again with the little girl, what they would do if that ever happens, to make her feel as safe as possible.
