TULSA, OK -- Less than a week from the start of the Tulsa State Fair and work on the fairgrounds are not yet done.
Fairground officials say that while all the heavy lifting is done, what is left is just the finishing touches.
A portion of the Midway is still being paved.
The Exchange Center got a $10 million makeover. In addition, there is a new building called Central Park Hall.
Power grids were installed this year so Tulsa State Fair attendees won't trip on wires under their feet. Tulsa County Fair Board members say it will all be finished by the weekend.
The company that cooks a lot of the state fair's food, ExpoServe has unveiled a new kitchen. Officials spent $750,000 this year on new equipment. That means a new-and-improved menu. ExpoServe say fairgoers are in for a treat this year.
"What the guests are going to see that is going to be a little bit different is that we've got a larger scale menu. A lot of fork and knife food, healthier food," says Siegmund Brown, ExpoServe Manager.
Tulsa County officials say so far this year, they've spent $40 million on construction issues at the fairgrounds.
