OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- An Oklahoma City police officer convicted of assault for kicking a handcuffed man has been fired.

Chief Bill Citty says an internal investigation found former Sgt. John Blumenthal kicked Jesse Haney in the face and cursed while Haney was being handcuffed at the City Rescue Mission.

Citty says the investigation also found Blumenthal lied to supervisors about leaving the country during his suspension, and failed to comply with the department's outside employment policy.

Police also found Blumenthal falsified information in other arrests.

Citty wrote in termination papers that Blumenthal's actions show a lack of integrity, trust and honesty.
