BARTLESVILLE, OK -- A man wanted for murdering a leader of the Hells Angels Biker Gang has showed up in Green Country. Mark 'Papa' Guardado was killed outside a San Francisco bar last month.

The man authorities believe shot him has turned himself in in Bartlesville.

San Francisco police, the FBI and U.S. Marshalls have been looking for Christopher Ablett for more than a month now. Their search ended when he strolled into the Bartlesville Police Department.

Police say the 37-year-old Ablett calmly told the dispatcher on duty that he was a wanted fugitive, and he would like to turn himself in.

"The guy came in. He was cooperative, even polite.  Indicated he wanted to go back and answer the charges," said Bartlesville Police Chief Tom Holland.

And he will face some serious charges.

San Francisco police believe Ablett, an alleged member of the Mongols Motorcycle Club, shot Mark 'Papa' Guardado during a fight outside a bar on September second.

The 46-year-old Guardado was the leader of the San Francisco chapter of the Hells Angels.

An estimated 2,000 of his fellow bikers attended his funeral last month. But it took Bartlesville police a while to figure all of this out.

Actually after he came right through the doors and turned himself in, the suspect though wouldn't answer any questions from police, so they are still not sure exactly how he ended up in Bartlesville.

"We asked if we could speak to him about it, talk to him a little bit. Find out how he got to Bartlesville, who dropped him off. Wasn't interested in that. Said no, not gonna talk about anything else," said Chief Holland.

Chief Holland says how exactly Ablett wound up in Green Country will likely remain a mystery. But he wishes more fugitives would just show up at his doorstep.

"We don't have people walk in every day that are wanted nationally for a serious crime, and surrender to us. But anybody who's out there who wants to, we'll be glad to accommodate them," said Chief Holland.

Bartlesville police say Ablett has been moved to a more secure facility. He is in the process of being extradited to California.
