UNDATED -- The Tulsa Police Department and the Broken Arrow Police Department are investigating two robberies at Walgreens drug stores. The Walgreens near 91st and Sheridan was robbed around 4:30 a.m. on Saturday.
Tulsa police say a woman walked into the store and told employees she had a gun. Officers say she never showed the weapon, but acted as though it was inside her purse.
She demanded prescription drugs only and then left.
Another robbery happened Saturday afternoon at a Walgreens in Broken Arrow. Police say a masked man entered the Walgreens on the corner of 71st and Garnett, went to the pharmacy counter and demanded drugs and money.
The pharmacists told officers the man was holding a small handgun.
After he got the drugs and cash the man ran out the front door, but then stopped and came back in to demand money from the front registers.
Before he got the money, however, he ran out and got into a car waiting across the street.
Police say the number of robberies like these have skyrocketed in past months.
More than 100 robberies were reported in Tulsa in both October and December, a tally that hadn't been reached since January 2006.
Officers say Tulsa generally averages about 80 robberies a month.
If you know anything about either of these crimes, you're asked to call Crime Stoppers at 596-COPS.
