Harvard has some and MIT so they're on the cutting edge of technology without a doubt," said Bragg, "These are the only ones in Tulsa. I think Fenway Park in Boston has some. TULSA, OK -- "My claim to fame is that I guess I've moved more trash than anybody in the state."

Guy Blagg is the Marketing Manager for American Waste Control. He's been in the waste business since 1978.

"Well we're an independent waste hauling company first of all which means we're locally owned and operated and we really try and promote all the local goods, " said Blagg.

Now Blagg and the company are trying something new, providing the only solar compacting trash bins in Tulsa; all 14 are located right outside the BOK Center.

"They're solar powered and totally cordless. They're very efficient. We get about a five to one compaction ratio. What that means is typically where you have a 30 gallon can get up to five times that volume in them. So 150 gallons is what goes into each one of those."

"Reducing the volume it means we're more competitive."

"The kind of waste that ends up here will eventually go into another compactor where it's compacted again."

"The number of trips to come out and service these things is reduced five to one. It greatly reduces the amount of trips needed to get the trash out of these cans. Works pretty good."

"They are solar powered which means it's not dependent on any type of special electrical hook-up. It's to be placed wherever you want it."

"These are the only ones in Tulsa. I think Fenway Park in Boston has some. Harvard has some and MIT so they're on the cutting edge of technology without a doubt"

"They're a well made unit made right here in the good ole U S of A, they do a great job but they are more expensive without a doubt."

"One thing's for sure it's not trendy and it's the kind of business that's going to be here."
