TULSA, OK -- A single engine Cessna was involved in an accident at Tulsa's R.L. Jones Jr Airport. This is a two-seat plane and is used primarily for personal flying and flight training.

The accident happened at about 2:00 Saturday afternoon.

Captain Michael Baker, Public Information Officer for the Tulsa Fire Department, said the pilot, a student, was the only person on board when the plane lost the front landing gear.

Baker said the student pilot was not injured when the nose gear collapsed upon landing.

The plane's front gear, wing and prop were damaged. Baker said no hazardous fluids spilled, even though the plane had about 22 gallons of fuel on board.

Unconfirmed reports indicate the plane is part of the Spartan School of Aeronautics.

The R. L. Jones Jr. Airport serves as the reliever airport for Tulsa International.
