TULSA, OK -- Police are looking for a man who crashed his vehicle into a tree and ran from the scene overnight.

A pickup truck was headed west on 61st Street toward Lewis Avenue when it lost control in a curve next to Southern Hills Golf Course, police say.

Witnesses said the truck was probably doing 40-50 mph when it entered the curve and lost control. The driver went left of center and into the embankment, bounced off the chain-link fence and smashed into a large tree.

The limbs of tree split from the trunk, one landing on the cab of the pickup and another hanging over the fence. A car traveling eastbound tried to stop in time to miss the truck but ended up sliding underneath it when it hit the tree.

Witnesses told police the truck's driver took off running with his dog westbound on 61st Street. They also said the man appeared intoxicated.
