A truck wreck on Highway 169 on the north side of Tulsa will affect rush-hour traffic Wednesday evening.

The southbound truck was carrying a piece of construction equipment called a track hoe when the hoe's large boom hit the railroad bridge that crosses 169 near Pine.

The impact heavily damaged the track hoe, knocking it off its trailer and disconnecting the trailer from the truck.

There's no indication yet on how badly the bridge is damaged.

The trailer and track hoe came to rest on the south side of the bridge blocking both southbound lanes.

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation closed the southbound lanes because of the crash, diverting southbound traffic into one lane on the inside shoulder of the highway between 36th Street North and Pine Avenue.

ODOT expects the closure to last into the evening. It advises drivers to avoid the area.
