Tulsa Celebrates Easter With Sunrise Services
TULSA, Oklahoma - Churches are celebrating Easter Sunday with a sunrise services despite the rain. Some churches already moved inside knowing the rain was coming.
Boston Avenue United Methodist Church in Tulsa decided to move its sunrise service indoors ahead of the storms.
"It's hard to focus and worship when it's 40 degrees and drizzly outside," said the Rev. Sarah Thornhill, Boston Avenue Methodist.
"Even if we're inside, we think the message is still powerful: that there's new life in Christ, there's new possibilities. The debt has gone away - whatever mistakes we've made, we can find new joy and hope in Christ."
First United Methodist Church continued with their plan to hold services at Guthrie Green despite the weather. The pastor called "the wordless sermon of nature" that shows what God is doing to turn the tide and change the world.
