TULSA, Oklahoma - Thursday was Arbor Day in Tulsa and the city celebrated being named Tree City USA for the 25th consecutive year.

"We love our trees … Tulsa is a tree city," said Tulsa’s Urban Forester Dave Zucconi.

He's right, Tulsa is a tree city in fact

The Arbor Day Foundation has named Tulsa Tree City USA for the 25th straight year.

That's what the gathering was all about. The mayor even had a proclamation.

“Experience tells me [the] news guys are not going to use me reading a proclamation anyway," G. T. Bynum said.

Oh, yeah?

“...and whereas Tulsa has been recognized...," Bynum continued.

No, he's right we're not doin' that but we are celebrating trees.

We have so many 'cause we plant so many. For more than 40 years, Up With Trees has been planting and maintaining Tulsa trees.

Students from Dove Science Academy were there to help them plant 25 new ones.

So how many we got?

Dave Zucconi said in those public spaces there are about 14,000 but that's an old number. Time maybe for an update.

He said he needs help counting trees.
