Christian Mayberry has a severe head injury after a four-wheeler crash near Muldrow last September.

After the accident, Christian's mother, said the stories about what really happened that night in Sequoyah County started changing.

"Immediately inconsistencies started coming," said Christian's mom, Kim Mayberry.

Standing six-feet-six inches tall, Christian Mayberry is best described as a gentle giant.

"The sweetest, literally, just fun-loving, super polite, mannerly, all the wonderful things that we hope and pray our kids are going to be, that's Christian," Kim said.

But for nearly five months, Christian's family has come to know a different 16-year-old boy. A boy who is in and out a surgery, who hasn't walked or spoken a single word since September, that's when Christian's brain was severely damaged in ATV crash.

"I'll never forget walking into that room and the sight that I saw. I mean, every tube, every hose from this wall to that wall, just solid equipment and there was my baby laying there on life support," said Kim. "I just went weak in the knees and couldn't believe what I was seeing."

The initial OHP report suggested Christian was driving a four-wheeler alone and wrecked because he was driving too fast.

But his mom said she knew from the beginning, that couldn't have been true.

"We know he would never be out there in the dark, out in the bottoms, where it's just kind of a spooky place anyway, by himself. Never," Kim said.

According to Kim, there is a witness who she said has told investigators what really happened the night of September 1.

"He [a witness] has stated that he absolutely saw Christian on there and he was the passenger and this was just moments before the accident," said Kim.

The night of the crash, Kim said Christian was at a party with a new group of friends.

The Sequoyah County District Attorney's Office said an investigator is looking into the possibility that the mother of one of those friends was driving the ATV drunk, with a sober Christian on back.

But Christian's mom said it gets worse. She said it was hours after the crash before anyone called in help for her son.

"The critical hour is the first hour. And his first hour and second hour and third hour, it was laying in a ditch, so they did not get him help when he needed help," Kim said.

Since the accident, Christian has been through countless surgeries. He had two large pieces of his skull removed to relieve pressure on his brain.

The doctors tell Kim, his condition now is likely to stay the same for the rest of his life.

But his family said their prognosis is Christian's fate.

"We all know that they also see miracles all the time and Christian will be one of them, it's no question," said Kim.

The DA's office said their lead investigator is actively investigating and questioning witnesses. The lead assistant DA said charges are possible.

"He has been robbed of his life, at this point, and no one wants to give us the truth and we're just so ready for the truth to come out," said Kim.

While they family waits for the truth, they've created the Facebook page, Pray for Mayberry, to keep family, friends and even strangers updated on Christian's condition.

"Christian is a man of God and he's touching a lot of lives just laying in that bed and I know that God has a lot in store for him, he's going to touch so many people, continue to touch so many people through this," Kim said through tear-filled eyes.

There's also a website dedicated to Christian, Justice for Mayberry. An account for donations has been set up at Arvest Bank under Christian Mayberry's name.

"So many people that we don't even know are supporting us, are praying for us, just literally thousands of people and it's made all the difference in the world, it really has," said Kim.
