TULSA, OK -- It's an ambulance make-over, at least for the sirens. On Tuesday, EMSA showed off their new howler sirens, a safety feature that only takes the push of a button.
EMSA crews say they encounter non-yielding drivers and have close calls on nearly every shift they work. In fact, in the last six months, they've had 16 ambulance related accidents. They say the new tool could be a live saver.
"This helps us get to the patient sooner and most defiantly safer," said EMSA paramedic Chris Steven.
EMSA says they hope to have all 77 of their ambulances outfitted with the new sirens within the next six months.
