MUSKOGEE, Okla. (AP) -- A former vice president at a Eufaula bank pleaded guilty to an embezzlement charge in federal court Tuesday. Glenda Darlene Johnson, 51, of Eufaula, waived indictment before entering the guilty plea to the charge of theft, embezzlement or misappropriation by a bank employee, U.S. Attorney Sheldon Sperling said.

Sperling said an FBI investigation found that Johnson, then a vice president at the Bank of Eufaula, willfully misapplied or embezzled about $335,982.75 from the bank from June 1, 2002, to Dec. 8, 2006.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Kimberly West accepted Johnson's plea and is allowing Johnson to remain free on bond pending sentencing, Sperling said.

He said that Johnson could face between 21 and 27 months in prison and be required to pay full restitution. The maximum punishment for the crime is 30 years in prison and a fine of $1 million.
