Budget problems in Tulsa are impacting the bus system. Tulsa Transit faces a $375,000 deficit and plans to eliminate several routes to make up the money.
The proposed solution has riders outraged. About 100 people gathered at the first of a series of public hearings on the issue Monday night. They say they rely on public transportation every day.
Bus Rider: "For every one of these people in here who works during the week there's also people that work on Saturdays and Sundays." Bus Rider: "You're cutting out an entire section of the city, that's usually not spoken for, we're always affected by something, if anything should be cut out why don't we just cut out the east side and just run the west side on Saturday."
Tulsa Transit will hold two more hearings this week. It hopes to get a better idea from the public where necessary cuts will be felt the least.
