Four Creek County Sheriff’s deputies are in a Tulsa hospital after a multiple car accident.

It happened around 3:30 Wednesday morning near Land road on New Sapulpa road. Several Creek County deputies were impounding a car for a bogus tag when a suspected drunk driver smashed into one their patrol cars. That caused a chain-reaction and a total of three patrol cars were damaged.

All four deputies were transported to a Tulsa hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police say this type accident is common during traffic stops. Mike Pullen with the Sapulpa Police Department, "This is one of the dangers of stopping a car on a five lane highway. It happens quite often. It's something officers have to be aware of and be looking for when they're stopped out here."

The driver who caused the accident refused treatment and was arrested for suspected DUI. The first patrol car hit was totaled, the other two have moderate to minor damage.
