(Krebs-AP) -- One-third of the full-time police in the small southeastern town of Krebs has been fired.
Town councilors in Krebs held a four hour meeting last night before firing David Scott Satterfield.
Satterfield was fired for not keeping a phone at his home, accepting free cigarettes from a convenience store and allegedly spoiling a burglary investigation.
The former officer says he didn't want to pay for a phone. Satterfield says he did have a pager and that the number was posted at the police department.
Town councilors also found that Satterfield bungled a burglary investigation by not taking fingerprints or photographs or taping off an area at a home where a man had allegedly intruded.
