MUSKOGEE, Okla. (AP) -- Some Muskogee residents say debris from the January ice storm is still on the ground and they're frustrated county officials can't seem to tell them when it will all be picked up. Resident Jack Ross says he's been told it could be three to four more months before the debris is completely cleared away.
Muskogee County commissioners say they've decided to do the cleanup instead of hiring contractors so they could get a 75% reimbursement from the federal government.
Commissioners say recent rains have delayed the cleanup but they estimate the work is anywhere from 20% to 45% complete.
The three-day ice storm in January coated roadways and power lines and was blamed for more than 30 deaths statewide.
